The A49 main trunk road runs North-South through
the heart of Craven Arms.
From Ross-on-Wye, Hereford, Leominster or Ludlow
- head north towards Shrewsbury
From Shrewsbury, the A49 is signed South towards
Leominster - a town much mispronounced by national
radio presenters. Next stop after Church Stretton
is Craven Arms
You might also be arriving from the East down
the pleasant Corvedale valley on the B4368
or even from the direction of South West Shropshire
or Wales through Newtown, Bishops Castle
or Clun on the A489 or the B4368
- this last route has some really tranquil and beautiful
hills as a backdrop and is one of our Travel Editor's favourite
parts of the United Kingdom.
By Rail
The main line between Cardiff - Newport runs
through Craven Arms. It's a good service - check
on www.nationalrail.co.uk/planmyjourney
though because not ALL the services stop here.
You can even arrive here from the Swansea via the Heart of Wales
Line.
On Foot
It's great walking country - there's Offa's Dyke,
the Long Mynd and the Shropshire Hills
Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on or near our patch.
If you're a serious walker, this part of the County should be
on your itinerary.
